I can’t say enough about how much I love the Whole Foods Organic Classic Marinara Sauce. It’s delicious and tastes fresh. I’m sure you will not be disappointed mostly with the price of $3.00 for a 24 ounce jar. One of the must have pantry essentials in my book.

Ingredients:

1 pound of grass fed ground sirloin or any ground meat you like
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 teaspoon salt and pepper
1 Onion chopped
1 pinch of salt
4 garlic cloves
4 fresh tomatoes (optional) if you want to add a fresh tomato flavor into sauce
1 cup about 6 med sized crimini mushrooms sliced or chopped
1 bunch thyme
1/4 cup white wine (optional, it will just add more flavor)
1 24oz jar of Whole Foods organic 365 marinara sauce (or whatever you enjoy) 1/4 cup parsley
1 pound of spaghetti Or 2 8oz boxes of Gluten Free spaghetti ( I like Ancient Harvest cooked for only 6 minutes, Manini’s also has a great fresh pasta)

Directions:

  • 1. Brown meat in 1 tablespoon olive oil and 1/2 teaspoon salt and pepper for 5 minute or until meat is almost browned
  • 2. Add chopped onion and a pinch of salt and sauté 2 minutes
  • 3. Add garlic
  • 4. Add fresh tomatoes (optional)
  • 5. Add mushroom and sauté 2-3 minutes
  • 6. Add thyme and 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 7. Add wine and let simmer for 5 minutes
  • 8. Add jar of sauce
  • 9. Let simmer on the stove for about 30 minutes and taste for salt before serving.

    10. Finish sauce with chopped fresh parsley
